The less bitter thoughts we think inside and say outside, the less bitter thoughts we falsely feel coming from other people.

Proverbs 15 is a good one to read about that sort of thing.

"take care my love, that savors strongly of bitterness"

Cognitive distortion credit:

Believing that you know the mean things other people are thinking about you is mind-reading.

Mind-reading is a lot easier to do habitually, if your thoughts are generally pretty bitter about yourself and other people. I say from experience.
